In Memoriam

Edgar H. Leander (Feb. 12, 1923 - Aug. 2, 2010)

On Monday, August 2, 2010 the Keystone Chapter lost its oldest founding member, Edgar Leander. He left this world in the same way he lived in it...on his own terms. "Ed" was a one-of-a-kind gentleman who has been described quite accurately as "a modern day renaissance man". He wore his every opinion on the front of his chest in bold print and never swayed from his beliefs. He shared a passion for dogs with all his friends, and stood firmly against those who would question his dedication to either. He will be remembered fondly by those of us who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Ed served as the treasurer for the Keystone Chapter and the Hickory Run Chapter of NAVHDA for many years. He actively trained dogs with both chapters, earning his last Utility Prize I score at the age of 83 with his German Wirehaired Pointer, "Dax", which he took to the Invitational in 2006.
The members of the Keystone Chapter will never forget Ed. His memory will rest in our hearts and he will accompany us on our hunts for all our days afield.
